Soalheiro certified by the National Sustainability Benchmark, recognition of the virtuous circle of valorization of the territory and family viticulture that began in the first continuous Alvarinho vineyard in Melgaço
It was in 1974 that João António Cerdeira and the family planted Soalheiro’s first vineyard. This was the first step on a path that continues.
Monção and Melgaço Day is celebrated on June 7th and, as always, we make a point of celebrating it with the future protagonists of our region. In the year we turn 40, we returned to the elementary schools of Monção and Melgaço to present the game “The Adventure of the Alvarinho Grape”.
We celebrated Soalheiro’s birthday on the 20th of March. Curiously, on a Sunday, the day when families traditionally get together at lunchtime.
Every birth has a story and we don’t know when Soalheiro’s started. On March 20, 1982 we bottled our first bottle and today we begin the celebrations of our 40 years.
2021 proved to be a year of many uncertainties in the vineyard and of great wines.
On May 11th 2021, the President of the Republic of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, came to visit us at Soalheiro.
