INVINOTEX Project

Between wine and sustainable fabric

The INVINOTEX Project is a collaborative initiative between Soalheiro and Tintex Textiles, which combines viticultural knowledge and textile technology to transform harvest waste into innovative textile materials with sustainable and functional potential.

The project stems from a simple yet powerful idea: to add value to the waste from the Alvarinho grape harvest—which would normally be discarded—by transforming it into raw material for technical fabrics with potential use in diverse sectors.

Valorization of By-products

To give new life to plant waste resulting from harvesting, incorporating it into fabrics that can be used in the fields of fashion, wine tourism and other innovative areas.

Material Innovation

To develop sustainable technical textiles that do not compromise performance and that can replace conventional materials, contributing to a circular economy.

Multisectoral Collaboration

Integrating knowledge from the wine sector, the textile industry, and applied research to create solutions with a real impact on production and consumption patterns.

From waste to material creation.

INVINOTEX plant-based fabric is developed from harvest byproducts—specifically the grape remains after pressing—transformed into textile components. This approach seeks not only to reduce waste but also to create something new with added value for creative industries and the broader market for sustainable materials.

Roundtable discussion on the future of Invinotex.

The project was recently the subject of a round table discussion at the São Jorge Cinema in Lisbon , organized by Tintex and Quinta do Soalheiro. This meeting brought together professionals from sectors such as wine, wine tourism, and the textile industry to reflect on what INVINOTEX can become in the future—both in terms of practical applications and environmental and social impact.

During the event, fashion pieces developed by designer Narayana Moraes in an academic context were also presented, using INVINOTEX fabric in different forms (from thicker fabrics for jackets to lighter variants for skirts and pants).

The impact of the partnership

INVINOTEX is a good example of how two distinct industries — wine and textiles — can collaborate on practical transformations with real impact.

  • Reducing waste of agricultural by-products;
  • Promoting a circular economy and eco-responsible materials ;
  • Integrating territorial value into technological design ;
  • Creating new narratives for sustainable products.
